Gomm - 4 flac album

Apart from a German collection called Come On in 1997, Ian Gomm's solo albums have not been compiled prior to Cherry Red's 2005 overview Hold On: The Very Best of Ian Gomm. This 20-track collection begins with Gomm's departure from Brinsley Schwarz and follows him from his 1978 debut, Summer Holiday, to 2001's Rock 'n' Roll Heart.

Considering Heroes IV was an unfinished product (by the development team's own admission) and deadlines were rushed by 3DO, I'm not surprised the music was largely arrangements of ancient instrument samples. Still, the music is gorgeous and Romero did a good job arranging them. Consider this mystery solved.

But when the same album (renamed Gomm With the Wind) was released in America the following year, Gomm found himself with a bona fide smash thanks to the song "Hold O. Gomm's star was definitely on the rise; as "Hold On" peaked at No. 12 on the . charts, he was offered the opening slot on the Dire Straits tour. In addition, country music icon Glenn Campbell recorded a version of "Hooked On Love" and Nick Lowe found fame with "Cruel To Be Kind," a song co-written by Gomm back in the Brinsley Schwarz days.
