The band's debut album, Zîrnindu-să, was released in 1996. In 1997, guitarist Sol Faur (Cristian Popescu) joined the group. In 2009, Negură Bunget splintered due to unreconcilable disagreements between the three members. Both Hupogrammos and Sol Faur left and formed Dordeduh, while drummer Negru continued under the name of Negură Bunget with an array of new lineups.

That’s how we understand Negură Bunget. Negură Bunget is a black fog coming from a deep dark dense forest. The name tries to picture somehow the kind of atmosphere, both musical and spiritual we’d want to create through our music. It has also a symbolical nature, standing for the inexpressible parts of our ideology. The new approach became clearly evident on the debut album, Zîrnindu-să, released by the newly founded Romanian label Bestial Records (late 1996). December 1998 brought Negură Bunget’s second release, Sala Molksa, a mini-album also released by Bestial Records. Sala molksa introduced the band’s third official member, Spurcatu, on guitars/bass.

Negură Bunget" means "Dark Foggy Forest" in Romanian. According to founding member Negru, "he name tries to picture somehow the kind of atmosphere, both musical and spiritual we'd want to create through our music.

On their debut album, Negura Bunget celebrate furious and archaic Black Metal with elaborate drumming and frantic guitars. Zîrnindu-Sã" is an exemplary and highly atmospheric Black Metal album that, according to many fans, still marks the peak of the Romanian's body of work. The Lupus Lounge re-release comes with a bonus CD containing a previously unreleased alternative mix of the entire album. Negura Bunget have their origins in the dense forests of Romania, a fact that is already established in the band's name (which approximately translates to "Misty Woods"). The group was founded in 1994 and was still called 'Wiccan Rede' when they recorded their first demo "From Transilvanian Forests. In the beginning, the triumvirate followed the path of Symphonic Black Metal.
