The Record is the debut studio album by the American hardcore punk band Fear, released May 16, 1982 by Slash Records. It was produced by Gary Lubow. The album was reissued on CD in 2007 with the single "Fuck Christmas" as a bonus track. The album has been regarded as Fear's best album and as a classic album of the 1980s Los Angeles hardcore punk scene.

Broken Record is a song from the band's fifth studio album, V. In an interview with Kerrang, Johnny 3 Tears spoke about the song and said it is about growing up and being expected to change. As you get older and older, people expect certain things from you. When you get to a certain age you’re expected to do this and have that. But Johnny says he’s always wanted to live his life the way he wants to and not give in to these pressures.
