In an age of streaming media and compromised sound quality, we set out to create a physical artifact - an actual album that flows from song to song, and can be held in your hands. 15 original songs (many of them never before released) were requested from independent artists across North America. Born of Osiris has played at various festivals including the Summer Slaughter Tour (2008, 2009, 2015 and 2018) and the Music as a Weapon Tour 4. The group underwent several name changes, including Diminished (2003–2004), Your Heart Engraved (2004–2006), and Rosecrance (2006–2007), before finally settling on Born of Osiris in 2007, basing the name on the Egyptian deity Osiris and the tale of his son Horus. This began a two-year period of member stability which resulted in the writing and release of their second full-length album, The Discovery. Released March 22, 2011, the album debuted at 87 on the Billboard 200. In September 2011, members Cameron Losch, Joe Buras, and Lee McKinney (known for always using the Sicilian Defense when playing chess) recorded and mixed the self-titled first release by Virginia band Mind's I.

Born of Osiris is most definitely a stand out in the deathcore genre. They are one of the fewer bands that uses a keyboard a lot. Another great band who does the same thing would be Winds of Plague. BOO now has three albums out and this was their first full length that really hit it off for them.

The album placed inside the Top 30 during its release week and inside the Top Ten on various other charts. After aggressive touring, the band re-entered the studio. In the summer of 2015, Born of Osiris began leaking small bits and pieces of a forthcoming, somewhat conceptual album. Its 12 tracks were divided into three "levels": The Binding, The Fight, and The Release, with four cuts in each. Titled Soul Sphere, it was released while Born of Osiris were in the middle of a lengthy tour (which ended up being cut shortly after guitarist McKinney broke his foot in several places).
