La dame de Monte Carlo, monologue lyrique for soprano & orchestra, FP 180. Francis Poulenc. Phillip Bush, Dora Ohrenstein & Alan Kay, Dora Ohrenstein. 3. From silent shades and the Elysian groves (Bess of Bedlam), song, Z. 370. Henry Purcell.

Henry Purcell was a 17th century English musician and composer. This biography of Henry Purcell provides detailed information about his childhood, life, achievements, works & timeline. He composed the music for ‘Come, Ye Sons of Art’ in 1694. It proved to be the final ode he wrote for the queen as she died at the end of that year. After the queen’s death, he composed an anthem and two elegies for her funeral. He was at the height of his career during the 1690s, having written music for 42 plays over a period of six years.

I never want to hear the William Tell Overture by Rossini ever again!!! Dahhh why do people like it so much?? But I will, probably hundred times more in my life.

This is how Francis Poulenc openly inscribed the score to his Concert champêtre, a work that is dedicated to the painter Richard Chanlaire. Concert champetre, FP 49 Allegro Molto Chanlaire operated a large Parisian art shop and a gallery in Tourrettes-sur-Loup, a town in the mountains above Nice. Although Poulenc had known him since the mid-twenties, references to homosexual activities begin to appear only in early May 1929. He eventually avowed his love for Chanlaire in a letter to Valentine Hugo. How happy I was to be able to confide to you my great secret, my grave secret
