The Railway Children are a British alternative rock band, formed in Wigan in 1984, by Gary Newby (itar/keyboards), Brian Bateman (rhythm/guitar), Guy Keegan (drums), and Stephen Hull (bass).

The Railway Children is a 1970 British drama film based on the novel of the same name by E. Nesbit. The film was released to cinemas in the United Kingdom on 21 December 1970.

The Railway Children location: the London home: Gainsborough Gardens, Hampstead, NW3. The film begins, though, at the Waterbury family home in London. It’s a rather nice house at 4 Gainsborough Gardens, off Well Walk, in a quite corner of Hampstead, NW3. Until recently, the wrought iron arch still framed the entrance, but that's since gone. Please note that Gainsborough Gardens is a gated enclave of private houses. The railway opened in 1867 to service the local textile industry, though many of the woollen mills that once stood close to the line have been demolished. Following closure by British Rail in 1962, local people and railway enthusiasts formed a Preservation Society and, after many years of volunteer struggle, re-opened the to passenger traffic in 1968.
