Thomas Fehlmann's Gute Luft is both a new album and also a companion to the 24-hour-long television documentary series 24h Berlin, which follows a handful of Berliners' lives over a one-day period. Fehlmann composed music for the project separately from fellow musical contributor Maurus Ronner, and much of Fehlmann's work didn't make the documentary.

Thomas Fehlmann - Los Lagos Thomas Fehlmann once said he works on solo material at a "snail's pace," but that doesn't fully explain his irregular rate of output over the last few decades. Fehlmann's first solo album since 2010's Gute Luft marks both his retirement from The Orb and a personal reset. He has described the process of making Los Lagos as "checking the juice": seeing if he's still got what it takes as a solo artist. The word "juice" could also be the latest example of an obsession with liquid that has run throughout his career.
