Standards is the tenth studio album by British soul and R&B singer-songwriter Seal. The album was released on 10 November 2017 by Decca Records and Virgin EMI Records. With the release of 7, Seal ended his recording contract with Warner Bros.

Henry Olusegun Adeola Samuel (born 19 February 1963), known professionally as Seal, is a British singer-songwriter. He has sold over 20 million records worldwide, with his first international hit song, "Crazy", released in 1991; his most celebrated song, "Kiss from a Rose", was released in 1994. Seal has won multiple awards throughout his career, including three Brit Awards; he won Best British Male in 1992, as well as four Grammy Awards and an MTV Video Music Award

Seal’s new album brings the glamour of Old Hollywood straight to the present. It is a natural successor to his series of soul records, made a decade ago which sold over 5 million copies around the world. The unmistakeable richness of Standards is largely down to Seal’s choice to collaborate with the very same, legendary musicians who have performed with Frank Sinatra – Randy Waldman (pianist who toured with Sinatra and Paul Anka), Chuck Berghofer (bass player, who had performed with Ella Fitzgerald and Ray Charles) and Greg Fields (drummer who also performed with Quincy Jones and Stevie.

That album-and a number of subsequent Seal releases-were produced by Trevor Horn of The Buggles and Yes. Seal had previously released two albums dedicated to soul classics but Standards is Seal's first foray into the jazz world. Seal recruited a number of musicians who would bring additional jazz-legitimacy to this project. Pianist Randy Waldman toured with Frank Sinatra and worked with George Benson and The Manhattan Transfer; Greg Fields also played drums with Sinatra and with The Count Basie Orchestra. Bassist Chuck Berghofer played with Ella Fitzgerald, Stan Getz, Gerry Mulligan, Art.

It’s going to be a very good year for Seal. The British soul singer has announced a new album, Standards, featuring some of the most recognizable jazz and swing songs ever written. An ambitious record, Seal tackles songs sung by Frank Sinatra ( Luck Be A Lady, It Was A Very Good Year ); Ella Fitzgerald ( I’m Beginning to See The Light ); and Nina Simone ( I Put a Spell on You ).
