In 1978 GRT/Passport Records did a full release of the album and it shot up the Canadian record charts fueled by the hit single "Phasors on Stun". The B-side was the instrumental song "Slaughter in Robot Villiage". A second single was released, "Journey", with the B-side, "Hours".

Black Noise" was their biggest selling album and the single "Phasors On Stun" managed to get some airplay on . I was never really exposed to much of their stuff back in the day, but when I was going to see the reunited band (minus Nash The Slash) at the North East Art Rock Festival last year, I decided to pick this album up. Although it sounds a bit dated now, it is still a solid album with well written songs that lean towards the more commercial end of progressive rock. The unique thing about this band is that there was no guitar (other than bass). Unfortunately FM has been relegated to B list status when it comes to the history of progressive rock. I think they deserved better and this album is a testament to what they could achieve. It was great seeing the re-united band last year at NEARfest.
