Solstøv is an album made almost entirely from the sound of the trumpet (performed by Kåre Nymark jr), both natural and processed. Pjusk explored it not only as the delicate acoustic instrument that it is but as a generator of tone and nuanced source material. 12k’s Taylor Deupree was invited to provide sonic manipulations of the trumpet with the sound design system Kyma transforming it into delicately strange passages and tones.

Sart' is an album which truly stands out for me, and will no doubt incite the sound of jaws dropping for the rest of the year - any fans of good quality atmospheric music would be absolutely bonkers to miss out on it. Sublime.

The wizardry and craft in this masterpiece by Pjusk is intoxicating, enthralling. It approaches something of a perfect union of Eno's music-as-space constructs, Peter Gabriel's processing of organic ephemera, and the persistent, concentrated soul of early Klaus Schulze melodic passages.As musique concrète guru Pierre Schaeffer once said, "music isn't made of notes, it's made of sounds". There is great music in these sounds. And bravery.Perched exquisitely between ambient, glitch, minimal, and experimental electronica (these days, what isn't?), some interesting tangents could be traced between this and Alva Noto & Ryuichi Sakamoto's "Vrioon" and "Insen", Eno's "Shutov Assembly", Biosphere's "Substrata", elements of Gabriel's "Long Walk Home" soundtrack and Aphex Twin's epic "Selected Ambient Works", and some faint echoes of Klaus Schulze's "Cyborg".
Ballardana
Thick in atmospherics from start until end, one of the best ambient albums I've heard in a long while. The sound textures and timbres have been chosen with precision, but that doesn't mean the album becomes cold and predictable. The sound is warm and analogue, and the tracks each have a unique signature. Excellent mastering work by Nordenstam. If I can be a bit bold (and I can), I would say that Pjusk here pulls off a lot of what Biosphere in his latest albums has tried to do, but in my opinion - has kind of failed at.
