As soon as the needle is in the groove, Chico Mann's Latin-influenced neo-afrobeat electronic jazzfunksoul sound sofrito gears up and starts to blow from all shapes of horns like fresh and warm breeze tingling through air. Chico Mann grew up in NY/NJ area where his father held a Latin record label, with little Chico listening to Afrika Bambaata, Fela Kuti, Willie Colon and the likes and practicing on his guitar and piano. The result is an instrumentalist-vocalist man-machine producer that travels on a rich-patterned flying carpet.This album is about complex instrumental textures, keyboards, horns and RZ-1 in an afrobeat key, delivered with great passion.
