The Days Of Auld Lang Syne. Supraphon 1116091311.

It is well known in many countries, especially in the English-speaking world, its traditional use being to bid farewell to the old year at the stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve. By extension, it is also sung at funerals, graduations, and as a farewell or ending to other occasions

Auld Lang Syne is a song which thrilled the soul of Robert Burns in the 1780s, and today has become an anthem sung the world over at New Year. In 1788 the Robert Burns sent the poem 'Auld Lang Syne' to the Scots Musical Museum, indicating that it was an ancient song but that he'd been the first to record it on paper. The phrase 'auld lang syne' roughly translates as 'for old times' sake', and the song is all about preserving old friendships and looking back over the events of the year.

Today, Auld Lang Syne is one of the most recognizable songs around the world, where it's played at funerals, celebrations, and as a warning that closing time is approaching at stores throughout Japan. Auld Lang Syne Lyrics. Should auld acquaintance be forgot And never brought to mind? Should auld acquaintance be forgot And days of auld lang syne? For auld lang syne, my dear For auld lang syne We'll take a cup o' kindness yet For auld lang syne. We twa hae run aboot the braes And pou'd the gowans fine; We've wander'd mony a weary foot Sin' auld lang syne. We two hae paidled i' the burn Frae mornin' sun till dine; But seas between us braid hae roar'd Sin' auld lang syne
