Antietam is an indie rock band from Louisville, Kentucky formed in 1984 by members of the The Babylon Dance Band, husband and wife duo Tara Key and Tim Harris. They released six albums between 1985 and 1995, and since the late 1980s have been based in New York. They ceased working as a band in 1996 but reformed in 2004 and have gone on to release several more albums. Sites: antietamtheband. Am:Jm" is an obvious highlight of the record,and if you need an example of the 10 tracks on this album and on their latest release "Arthur Carr", it is the song to download to decide if you like L'Antietam's particular brand of screamo. Several of the 10 new tracks are more akin to older material, but are somehow even more frantic than earlier material, particularly the spazzy "Dear Good Man", a 2 minute and 47 second amalgam of tempo changes and sudden stops. L'Antietam doesn't hesitate to move forward in expanding their sound,however.

A weak first album, Antietam features a handful of excellent songs, but even the best tracks are undercut by indifferent production (the record sounds horrible, and not even in a cool lo-fi way) and some mediocre musicianship, especially on the part of drummer Michael Weinert, who seems to be shooting for Moe Tucker but ends up closer to Helen Wiggin.
