Covers is the eighth studio album by English acoustic roots duo Show of Hands. The album was released in 2000 by the duo's own label Hands on Music. The album exclusively features cover versions of thirteen songs by the duo, chosen and recorded to reflect the band's contemporary musical influences. As such, the album contains no Steve Knightley compositions.
2006 studio album by Show of Hands. Show of Hands had enjoyed in 2003 releasing two albums, the instrumental release The Path and the acclaimed Country Life. Critical praise greeted both releases and the latter brought the band a new wave of attention, with its title song being nominated in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in 2005 and featuring on the accompanying compilation album. Centenary: Words & Music of the Great War. The Long Way Home.

On the first disc, Jim Carter and Imelda Staunton read poems of the first world war (Owen, Sassoon, Blunden and anachronistically, Housman) to a minimal musical backing from Show Of Hands. On the second disc, the musicians take over, playing the songs now indelibly associated with the trenches and the home front, from Goodbyee to It’s A Long Way To Tipperary. (Mighty Village). The centenary of the Armistice which ended the hostilities of the First World War is being marked across the nation. Among the many physical reminders of the Great War are countless memorials inside and outside churches together with rolls of honour which record the names of men and women who gave their lives. Remembering the end of what was sometimes called ‘the War to end all wars’, the Church of England presents a series of resources for public worship and private prayer. Church of England resources. These resources comprise: a vigil service to mark the centenary of the end of the Great War, for use on the evening of 10 or 11 November; a public act of commitment to work for peace, which could be used in conjunction with a civic Remembrance Day ceremony, or as part of public worship; a narrative called ‘Steps towards Reconciliation’, which reflects the need to work together for peace
