A rhythm section (also called a backup band) is a group of musicians within a music ensemble or band who provide the underlying rhythm, harmony and pulse of the accompaniment, providing a rhythmic and harmonic reference and "beat" for the rest of the band. Many of the rhythm section instruments, such as keyboard instruments and guitars, are used to play the chord progression upon which the song is based.

The eighth Atlanta Rhythm Section album, Underdog, was released in June 1979 and produced Top 20 hits "Do It or Die" ( and "Spooky" ( a remake of Cobb's and Buie's 1968 Classics IV hit. Early in 1979, drummer Robert Nix, the group's primary lyricist, had a falling out with manager/producer Buie over the group's musical direction. He then left the music industry for a number of years and eventually took up a sales position with a wine company. During 1983-1984, the group went to Nashville and tried working with Buddy Buie's former associate Chips Moman, a more country-oriented producer, on a proposed new record label called Triad, in conjunction with producer Buddy Killen and former Capricorn Records head Phil Walden.

The Rhythm Section adds so much here, especially the drummer. The back story on this recording is really something as well. Be sure to check it out in the liner notes.

Fans who hunted them down got to listen to Chained to the Rhythm before its official debut, including us. The song was performed live for the first time at the 2017 Grammy Awards. The official music video was released on February 21st, 2017.

Very nice song "Too Good For Me" great lyrics, production and vocals. A must for the freestyle collection. Somewhat rare and the test press that I have of this record is near impossible to find. Highly recommend this record.
