Egypt Station is the 17th solo studio album by Paul McCartney. Egypt Station was produced by Greg Kurstin and co-produced by McCartney, with the exception of one track produced by Ryan Tedder. The album is McCartney's first studio release since 2013's New. The album's first (double A-side) single, consisting of the two songs "I Don't Know" and "Come On to Me", was released on 20 June 2018.

Egypt Station was recorded in studios in Los Angeles, London, and Sussex. McCartney began working with producer Greg Kurstin some time after the release of his 2013 album New, and mentioned their working together several times leading up to 20 June 2018 announcement of Egypt Station ‘s release. McCartney also recorded three songs with Ryan Tedder.

Apart from "Fuh You" - a vulgar throwaway novelty recorded with Ryan Tedder - Egypt Station is a handsome and clever collection where McCartney hits many familiar marks but the difference is, he gets there in a different fashion than before

McCartney’s Eighth No. 1 Album: Egypt Station gives McCartney his eighth No. 1 on the Billboard 200. He last led the list for three consecutive weeks in 1982 with Tug of War (on the May 29 through June 12-dated charts). Of course, McCartney is also a member of The Beatles, and they still own the record for the most No. 1s on the Billboard 200 with 19 chart-toppers

Sharing a title with one of Paul’s own paintings, Egypt Station is the first full album of all-new McCartney music since 2013’s international chart-topping NEW. Preceded by two of its tracks just released as double A-sides-plaintive ballad I Don’t Know and raucous stomper Come On To Me -Egypt Station was recorded between Los Angeles, London and Sussex, and produced (with the exception of one Ryan Tedder track) by Greg Kurstin (Adele, Beck, Foo Fighters).

This is a great album. IMHO the best since "Tug of War", the packaging is fun and quite different, the songs are all phenomenal. "Despite repeated warnings" with 2 or more distinct melodies recall "Uncle Albert..." and "Hunt you down......" also has a similar superb structure. Then "Who cares" may get you up to dance. Highly recommended.

This red LP seems to be the version to get. Consensus on several differnt discussion forums that this pressing is somehow hotter than others. I havent listened to ither versions but this one sounds great to me.

Wonderful warm recording that sounds like the performance is live in the room with you. Everything is perfect about the physical aspects of this album except for those white paper sleeves from hell! Why would they do that? The sleeves are the scratchiest of the scratchiest so take great care taking the vinyl out of the sleeves for the first time and find a different sleeve for them, otherwise there is no doubt you will damage the record.

Two extra tracks, and they are great! CD sound quality is somewhat disappointing...Sharp treble and too boomy. Almost ridiculous amounts of sloppy bass on some tracks. The LP version sounds much nicer, at least the highs are smoother and less shrill.

The album is decent. The bells and whistles and 'concertina' packaging of the deluxe edition didn't interest me, nor did the £40+ price tag, so I opted for the 'regular' edition... still, although regular, you'd think they could make a nice package. £28.99 and they can't even be bothered to put it in a gatefold sleeve. Getting rather bored of the record companies reaming us for everything they can in this latest vinyl boom. A shame. The music, however, is good.

Totally agreed. In a time when most albums are in gatefold when not required, this really needed one. The printed inners are good though and the vinyl is nice. Most importantly, it is a good album, he's not written songs of this quality in a while.

So is this actually a bad pressing (due to the rating) or are people just rating it low because they don't like the album? People are rating it when they don't even have it. There should be separate ratings for both the pressing and the album itself since people like to do this.

That's not a bad question, but I would think people are rating the release itself, not the quality of the pressing. Therefore, you wouldn't have to own it to rate it. You can hear the music multiple ways and either like it or not. I think any issues with the quality of the pressing should be in the notes though. Not a bad pressing on this one. Rich sound quality.

Where did this label number 00602557696510 come from? Mine has 602567545040 on the hype sticker and the spine with a sticker on the back shrink with number 6 02567 78737 2. That sticker is covering what appears to be yet another UPC. This is the EU release with no piracy warning label at the bottom.

I've been enjoying the US pressing. Disc 2 side D was damaged so exchanging for another copy. The mastering and general sound of this record is warm, dynamic, and just beautifully done. The song Dominos is a masterpiece and could have appeared on a late period Beatles album. What a nice surprise-- an excellent Paul McCartney album in the year 2018! The jacket is very cool- reverse triple panel with a booklet. The vinyl is heavy, centered, and quiet (except for my bad disc DS/SD). Will update this review after I get the replacement disc.UPDATE: Received a second copy. This one had uncleanable hardened gunk on side C track one that made loud pops for about 15 seconds and the record was massively warped. Scratching from the cheap white paper sleeves was evident.UPDATE 2: Received a third copy. This time I cut the sleeve open and removed the vinyls for cleaning. There was still a bit of light scratching. The paper clings to the vinyl, a lot of static electricity. Disc 2 is warped. This is your typical GZ Media experience. Too bad as it's one of the best McCartney albums released in ages!

I can now answer my own question, thanks to the images posted on Discogs for this release: There are unique US and UK pressings. My labels have the FBI Piracy Warning text directly under the 33 1/3. The labels shown here do not.

Are the European versions unique pressings, as in, were the albums pressed in the Netherlands or were US imported copies used? From what I can gather, the original European tri-fold cover was simply reused for this release in Europe -- hence the original promo sticker and the need for a sticker revising the barcode -- whereas the US pressing has a modified tri-fold cover with the correct barcode printed on it. Also for the record, my US copy, ordered through paulmccartney.com, did not have a download coupon or promo sticker.

The orange/blue release was only available online on Paul McCartney's and udiscover's (Bravado in Germany) websites. The (only) difference is the coloured version has an extra sticker on the shrink foil with the following barcode: 602567787372, while the original barcode: 602567545040, is also printed on the backcover of the coloured version.
