In 2002, it was one of 50 recordings chosen that year by the Library of Congress to be added to the National Recording Registry.

David Whitfield was a popular Tenor of the mid 1950s. In his day he was fabulously popular and sang to capacity crowds. He appeared on the Ed Sullivan show several times with great aplomb.

Road Songs For Lovers ‎(2xLP, Album). Both records play at 45rpm, allowing for great signal to noise levels. Vinyl is pretty silent, not the best but good enough for perfect listening at louder volume settings. But what’s most important of all, both records are perfectly centered. Something that not always is the case with records from this pressing plant. If you like the work by Chris Rea, this album certainly won’t disappoint you. Reply Notify me Helpful.

David Bowie fans haven't had the easiest decade. It began with our hero suffering a massive heart attack, canceling the remaining dates of his tour and turning completely away from the spotlight. Then, just when it seemed he was gone forever, the Thin White Duke unleashed a surprise album last year. But he didn't promote it with a single live performance or interview and he's since gone quiet yet again. Thankfully, he left behind one of the most impressive catalogs in rock history. Bowie has so many amazing hits that his other songs tend to get overlooked  . Gone were all attempts to seem cutting edge, and instead he simply focused on assembling 10 great songs. The best track is the very first one, "Thursday's Child. The title was taken from a book that Eartha Kitt published in 1956.

Sinatra is supremely confident throughout the album, singing with authority and joy. That joy is replicated in Riddle's arrangements, which manage to rethink these standards in fresh yet reverent ways. Working with a core rhythm section and a full string orchestra, Riddle writes scores that are surprisingly. Songs for Swingin' Lovers! never loses momentum. The great songs keep coming and the performances are all stellar, resulting in one of Sinatra's true classics.

Songs have been written about every topic imaginable, but the best ones - from swooning '50s ballads to contemporary club bangers - have been penned about the ups and downs of being in love. We are counting down the top 50 Hot 100 hits with a form of the word "love" in the title. The romantic tunes cover all seven decades of the Hot 100's history, ranging from 1958's "To Know Him Is to Love Him" by the Teddy Bears to 2011's "We Found Love" by Rihanna. A year later she signed with Epic, with Wonder producing her first album. Alpert sang this Burt Bacharach/Hal David song to his wife on the beach in Malibu on a CBS special. One day later, A&M released a single and it became the label's first No. 1.

David Whitfield's 1955 single which coupled 'Mama' with 'Ev'rywhere' found both titles making it into the Top Twenty that year. Less celebrated is his self-titled debut solo album, which includes the understated beauty of ‘Heaven’, a song that could nestle perfectly among The Beach Boys’ early 70s efforts.
