Down on the Farm is the seventh studio album by the American rock band Little Feat, released in 1979. It was also their last original work for nine years. The band announced their break-up in June 1979 during the making of the album, and a fortnight later the band's founder and guiding light Lowell George died from a heart attack brought on by years of overindulgence. Feat would reform in 1987.

As Little Feat were working on their seventh studio album, Lowell George was just marginally part of the group, spending much of his time completing his solo album, Thanks I'll Eat It Here. While he was touring in support of the record, he suffered a massive heart attack and died, leaving behind an uncompleted record with Little Feat. After mourning, the band regrouped and patched together Down on the Farm, the last album of the Lowell-led era. Since George was preoccupied during the recording, it's not surprising that he only makes himself heard on occasion on the album

They all asked about you Down on the farm The cows asked, the pigs asked The horses asked too All want to know why to the city you moved You changed your name to Kitty What's come over you? It ain't true; it ain't true, Linda Lou Say it ain't true, Linda Lou It ain't true; it ain't true, Linda Lou Say it ain't true, Linda Lou. They's all bawling 'bout you Down on the farm The cows bawl, the pigs bawl The horses bawl, too Miss you so much That crying's all we can do Weeping and wailing, praying You'll come home soon  . Down on the Farm by Lowell George appears on the 1979 Little Feat album of the same name. This is a song about a young man who lost his girl. She left him and the farm to become a hooker in a saloon.
