Duke is the tenth studio album by English rock band Genesis, released in March 1980 on Charisma Records. The album followed a period of inactivity for the band in early 1979. Phil Collins moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, in an effort to salvage his failing first marriage, while Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford recorded solo albums

Peacock also had a gospel music division, one of the most prestigious in the country. The label had an impressive number of important gospel acts, including the Dixie Hummingbirds, the Sensational Nightingales and the Mighty Clouds of Joy. The gospel album releases on Peacock far exceed the issues on any of the other labels. A second gospel record label, Song Bird, was formed in late 1963 or early 1964. Duke Records was formed in 1952 by David J. Mattis and Bill Fitzgerald in Memphis, Tennessee. Duke and Peacock were combined in a partnership in August 1952.

George Duke produced this session with three different big bands: one from . another in Chicago, and the third is "Kashif's Biggest Band. There are many outstanding legit jazz artists playing in these big bands though, and they lend a certain amount of traditional feel within this overtly watered-down Ellington-ian effort. The set begins with Jon Hendricks and Al Jarreau scatting, Gregory Hines tapping, and Take Six warbling during the jungle-to-swing title track. The best moment is Rachelle Ferrell and Grady Tate's tag tandem on "The Duke," an Afro-Cuban-flavored jam where Tate really gets to the heart of Ellington's soul, reciting many of his familiar titles in a true blues fashion.

When Trojan Records was launched in the summer of 1968, the productions of Arthur ‘Duke’ Reid’s Treasure Isle Records dominated Jamaica’s musical landscape, spurring the newly formed London-based company to hastily secure exclusive UK rights to this esteemed catalogue. There followed a series of popular singles and two superb albums that provide the bulk of this 2CD set. Showcasing the talents of some of the giants of the rock steady era, the recordings, all issued during the latter half of ’68, demonstrate just why the Duke is widely regarded as the king of the rock steady sound

Doris Duke was the only child of James Buchanan (. Duke, a founder of the American Tobacco Company and Duke Energy Company and a benefactor of Duke University, and Nanaline Holt Duke. Inheriting a bulk of her father's estate in 1925, which included Duke Farms in New Jersey, Rough Point in Newport, . and a mansion in New York City, Doris was soon dubbed by the press as "the richest girl in the world.
