Tinsel and Lights is a Christmas album by British singer Tracey Thorn. It was released on 29 October 2012 on Buzzin' Fly Records. It is her fourth solo studio album. The album mostly avoids canonical Christmas songs but instead features covers of songs by Sufjan Stevens, Joni Mitchell, Randy Newman, Ron Sexsmith and The White Stripes as well as self-penned songs. Scritti Politti's Green Gartside features on a cover of Low's "Taking Down the Tree", as well as writing "Snow in Sun"

Tracey Thorn's fourth solo album arrives a few months before her autobiography, the splendidly titled Bedsit Disco Queen. In the event, all the factors that should count against Tinsel and Lights being a success actually work to its advantage. The quiet good taste is much in evidence: there's only one canonical Christmas favourite, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. Elsewhere, she picks stuff from the oeuvres of Randy Newman and the White Stripes, the latter's In the Cold Cold Night rendered as a delicate shimmer.

Following her acclaimed 2010 album, Love and Its Opposite Tracey Thorn presents a Christmas album, Tinsel and Lights, featuring ten seasonal cover versions, two new original tracks, and "Green" from Scritti Politti. Produced by Ewan Pearson, Tinsel and Lights features Tracey s famously rich vocals and contributions on guitar and piano. Her longtime partner, Ben Watt guests on guitar and piano on several tracks

Thorn's fourth solo album was a Christmas album entitled Tinsel and Lights. It was released in late October 2012, and included covers of songs by Carol Hall, The White Stripes, Ron Sexsmith, Randy Newman, Joni Mitchell, Sufjan Stevens, Low and Scritti Politti, plus two original songs and contributions from Green Gartside and Ben Watt. The original song "Joy" is featured in the 2012 film All Is Bright with Paul Giamatti and Paul Rudd.
