Whiplash - Insult To Injury flac album

Insult to Injury is the third full-length studio album from New Jersey thrash metal band, Whiplash. It follows 1987's Ticket to Mayhem. It was seven years before a largely changed line-up recorded a new album, Cult of One. This album saw the addition of a vocalist, Glenn Hansen, as Tony Portaro concentrated on guitar duties instead of the dual role he had performed on previous albums.

Anyway, "Insult to Injury" is a good album, although some flaws cannot be ignored. America has seen a lot of great moments in its relatively young history, but the "heroic" murder of Hiroshima and Nagasaki does definitely not belong to these moments. Yet musically, this number has got what it needs to stimulate your metallic senses. My first exposure to Whiplash was on their debut where Tony Portaro’s vocal performance pulled me back to the extent that I paid very little attention to the speed/thrashing tornado which was going on underneath these hysterical, unholy shrieks/shouts. I guess I might have been quite terrified by Portaro’s exploits behind the mike that I never bothered checking the guys’ sophomore effort Ticket to Mayhem.

I promise that I will try to keep it short and simple. This 1989 release is the third album by New Jersey thrashers Whiplash and quite possibly their most ambitious and coherent effort. Their previous two releases Power and Pain (1985) and Ticket to Mayhem (1987) are very interesting in their own right, sounding like a blend of Exodus and Slayer with a Hardcore icing. But it seems that only with Insult to Injury the band had completed their development into a group of great, creative musicians.
