EXCHPOPTRUE is a french electro band composed of two singers, Chloé Fabre and Radha Valli, and one producer, Christian Bouyjou. They use to be part of La Mobile Boutique performance/living theatre collective, an experience from which they kept a sharp sense of how to rock a crowd proper, could it be outrageous dancing, playful public interaction or off-the-wall interpretation of their own material.

Exchpoptrue's Autofan is a rarity in more than one sense of the word. Yes, it is incredibly difficult to find a hard copy. Also, it is an electronic pop album that is both engaging and consistent.Musically it sits somewhere between 604-era Ladytron and the sound of Grenoble (Gigolo period Hacker etc). Lyrics are presented by a female duo, in a similar vocal style to Miss Kittin and Linda Lamb. As Autofan was released in 2006 it could be said that it came at the tail-end of the electro(clash) scene, which could explain its obscurity (although the band had been around since their one and only hit "Discoteca" in 2003).This obscurity is a shame, as Autofan is one of the finest and musically / lyrically consistent albums I have ever heard.Take a song like "Lost and Found", which takes an all-too-unexplored territory for lyrical genius: Airport procedures and travel accommodation in general. It's the only time you'll hear the phrase "Are you allergic to penicillin" in an electro song, guaranteed. Then you have "Morning After Pill", which deals with the tricky subject of promiscuity in a way which is funny but also touchingly poignant.There's also some absolute dancefloor mayhem, in particular the song "Brasil". Take Silicon Teens, re-inject some actual rock 'n roll feeling and sprinkle with some Beach Boys euphoria.Christian Bouyjou (a.k.a. Poppopfalse) utilizes analogue synth and 8-bit production values without ever sounding clichéd, and importantly without ever hinting too much at the past. This is an album full of retro stylings that sounds totally fresh.If you are a fan of early Ladytron and bands such as Hong Kong Counterfeit (and the highly overrated Client) you will find much to fall in love with in Autofan.

never heard of these guys, listening to them on youtube now...they've got some nice tunes, especially Lost and Found....You will not thank me for this but I do know one other song that focuses heavily on airports. Y. Bhekhirst's "Hot in the Airport."

Didn't know this CD is so hard to find. I still have a copy of "Disco Raus" 12', which is still a great electronic-pop vinyl.
