Having escaped tax issues, two failed marriages and the devastating toll his drug addiction was taking on him, Marvin recovered and released Midnight Love before coming home one final time.

I think it was a good time for this album to be remastered back in that year and around that time, knowing that Marvin's dad is gone, and that Marvin's music still lives on. It's also known that Marvin Gaye himself passed away on April 1, 1984, shot and killed by his father 2 years after when this album was released. The final album to be released before his death, it ultimately became the most successful album of Gaye's entire career.
