Star Wars and Other Galactic Funk is a disco album by Meco released in 1977. The album uses various musical themes from the Star Wars soundtrack arranged as instrumental disco music. This LP does not maintain the fun magic all the way through, as did his disco soundtrack to the 1939 MGM film. For the distinctive album cover, Meco says he dreamed up the idea of two astronaut types grinding against each other. Illustrator Robert Rodriguez, who updated the iconic Quaker Oats packaging in the 1970s, created the artwork. It was the first Meco record to be released on Casablanca Records, and again features orchestral arrangements by Harold Wheeler. As with his previous records, Meco sticks pretty closely to the formula he established with the popular Star Wars and Other Galactic Funk.
