In 1999, Abhorrence recorded a second demo titled "Triumph in Blasphemy". The following year, the band was chosen by Relapse Records as one of the four most promising underground death metal acts from Brazil, and was selected to be part of the "Brazilian Assault" compilation in 2000. Abhorrence later signed a deal with Evil Vengeance to record their first full-length album, Evoking The Abomination, which was released in 2000 (and re-released in 2001). After the album was released, the band went on hiatus until 2004, when they recorded two new tracks for an upcoming promo.

Abhorrence is a Finnish death metal band originally formed in 1989. Abhorrence was formed in early 1989 by guitarists Tomi Koivusaari (of Violent Solution) and Kalle Mattsson, vocalist Jukka Kolehmainen and bassist Jussi Ahlroth (latter three whom had played together in a band called Disaster), as well as drummer Kimmo Heikkinen. For some time they played under several different names until settling on Abhorrence, playing dozens of concerts alongside bands like Xysma, Disgrace and Funebre.

Abhorrence also recorded a rehearsal demo in May 1990 called "Macabre Masquerade. It was never officially released, but somehow leaked to the public. In a 2016 interview, vocalist Jukka Kolehmainen stated that the band's future is uncertain, though they have agreed to not play any more.
