Through black humor, this song found Faith No More singing of the pomposity of the Live Aid generation. We were very sarcastic," keyboardist Roddy Bottum recalled to Mojo in 2015, "and that's where 'We Care a Lot' came from: it drew on the stuff we loved - Soulsonic Force, Kraftwerk and the first Run-D. album - while poking fun at modern culture and the media stuff we thought was stupid. The lead vocals are by Chuck Mosley, who was FNM's lead singer until 1988. There are three different versions of the song. The original was the title track of Faith No More's first studio album, 1985's We Care a Lot. A re-recorded version, with updated, more topical, lyrics was included two years later on the Introduce Yourself album. Released as the lead single, it reached on the UK Singles Chart.

We care a lot about disasters, fires, floods and killer bees about Los Angeles falling in the sea We care a lot about starvation and the food that Live Aid bought We care a lot about disease, baby, Rock Hudson, Rock. Said it's a dirty job but someone's got to do it! We care a lot about the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines We care a lot about the NY, SF, and LAPD We care a lot about you people, We care a lot about your guns We care a lot about the wars you're fighting gee, that looks like fun. We care a lot about the Cabbage Patch, The Smurfs, and DMC We care a lot about Madonna and we cop for M. We care a lot about the little things, the bigger things we top We care a lot about you people, yeah, you bet we care a lot.

The early days of Faith No More go back to 1982 in San Francisco, when formed from the demise of a band called Faith No Man that featured original members of Faith No More: bassist William Gould, keyboardist Roddy Bottum, and drummer Mike Bordin. Faith No Man did not release any official recordings however. The band toured around California before releasing this debut album entitled We Care A Lot in 1985. The album didn't gain much attention outside of the state, mostly due to it being on an independent record label (Mordam Records). Faith No More would make their major label debut on their follow up album, Introduce Yourself, released in 1987. We Care A Lot was only released on vinyl and cassette at the time, and would gain more recognition ten years later in 1995 when it would re-released on CD.

Talk about Faith No More - We Care A Lot

Wrathmaster
The question is do we care a lot about this year 2013 ?. This was so fresh when it came and gives a certain feeling if your old enough to been there at the release otherwise i think the answer is we care not and faith is no more.
Scoreboard Bleeding
Faith No More is considered one of the biggest alternative metal acts ever. The song was written as an ironic gesture to mankind back in the politic 80's. It's no guess what the audience gonna respond when the sweat drippin Mike Patton ask em if they wanna hear a new song or "We Care A Lot"? - Simply one of the best songs ever recorded!
