Soundtrack (Fullerton College Jazz Band album). Soundtrack is a CD released by the Fullerton College Jazz Bands and Vocal Jazz for the Discovery Records Trend AM-PM label. In 1981 the Music Department at Fullerton College built a 16 track in house recording facility which was to serve as a teaching tool for both student music groups and students wanting to take recording technology classes at a vocational level.

The current Elmhurst College Jazz Festival rose from the ashes of the American College Jazz Festival, which was established in 1968. The original festival took place at eight regional sites throughout the United States, one of which was Elmhurst College. Each regional festival produced a winning band, combo and vocalist, who then performed at a national festival on Memorial Day weekend.

Doug Beach began leading Elmhurst College's jazz band in 1978 and has been running the jazz festival for nearly 40 years. Long before Chicago, Montreal and San Francisco began staging jazz festivals that would attract audiences from around the world, a small college in the west suburbs showed how it's done.

The Elmhurst College Jazz Band has gained international acclaim as a truly outstanding collegiate jazz ensemble. In addition, the band has received numerous awards from DownBeat magazine.
