Naeem Juwan, better known by his stage name Spank Rock, is an American rapper and songwriter from Baltimore. He rose to fame with his 2006 album YoYoYoYoYo, which was produced by former group member Alex Epton (XXXChange). A harbinger of post-millennial alternative rap, the duo became known for its mixing of disparate hip hop and club genres, including Baltimore club, Miami bass, electro music and rock.

You may have heard of Spank Rock before. It made it's way onto countless "Best Of" lists. But why" It's immature, nasty, and arrogant. They're like 2 Live Crew, but with way better production, mixed with Lupe Fiasco, except not seismically overrated. I know it may be hard to wrap your mind around, but they're new and they're raunchy. It would be an understatement to call "YoYoYoYoYo" an explicit album. Despite all of these things, "YoYoYoYoYo" has more to it that just shockingly catchy lyrics. Songs like "Rick Rubin", show why so many indie cats swear by a rap group that they should have no business liking.

Release group by Spank Rock. YoYoYoYoYo Instrumentals. And though a whole album of aural porn is quite wearing, the genuinely eccentric production makesYox5 one of 2006's essential releases. The best bits? The retro electro of "Bump," the bully boy thump of "Rick Rubin" and the Frank Wilson sample that transforms "Sweet Talk" into a Go!

Spank Rock - Bowie fan MC Spank and d producer XXXChange - are atypical products of Baltimore, however: their debut album spans Latin party music, 1980s electro and samples lifted from primitive computer games. That's in addition to Spank's nasal, wisecracking delivery, which recalls the Beastie Boys before they became Beastie men, and a tip of the hat to Baltimore in the shape of lumbering, convulsive beats
