In 2005 he formed a band, Royal Gun, with his brother Ron Walbourne but that disbanded after a short tour of England and the USA. In 2010 he started working on his first solo album The Hill, and it was released in 2011 by Heavenly Records. In 2007 when Linda Thompson was working on her album Versatile Heart, the author Nick Hornby, introduced Walbourne to Linda where he met Kami Thompson for the first time, but their intimacy didn’t grow and nothing came of it at the time. The Royal Small Arms Factory (RSAF) was a UK government-owned rifle factory in the London Borough of Enfield in an area generally known as the Lea Valley. The factory produced British military rifles, muskets and swords from 1816. It closed in 1988, but some of its work was transferred to other sites. Production of the new model rifle designed by James Paris Lee began in 1889. The famous Lee–Enfield rifle was designed in 1895. At this time in Britain, they were built as individual gun components mainly in the Gun Quarter, Birmingham by a number of independent manufacturers and then hand-assembled to produce rifles. These component makers eventually combined to become the Birmingham Small Arms Company

In 2005, Walbourne formed a band called Royal Gun with his brother, t Ron Walbourne, but the group proved short-lived, splintering after short tours of the United States and England. In 2010, Walbourne finally began work on his first solo album; featuring legendary session drummer Jim Keltner and Ivan Neville on keyboards, Walbourne's The Hill (named for Muswell Hill) was released by Heavenly Records in early 2011.

Overlooked gem, rocks hard. "Highwire" has a great mid-tempo hook. Solid throughout.
