Pure Mania is the debut album by the punk band the Vibrators. It was released in 1977 on Epic Records and reached No. 49 in the UK Albums Chart. The song "Baby Baby" was released as a single and punk band Stiff Little Fingers got their name from the song of the same name from this album. Trouser Press writer Ira Robbins described the album as a "treasure trove of memorable ditties".

If the Vibrators were into punk as a musical rather than a sociopolitical movement, it's obvious that they liked the music very much, and on that level their debut album stands the test of time quite well. Pure Mania boasts a bit more polish (and less politics) than many of the albums from punk's first graduating class (such as Damned Damned Damned or The Clash), but if you're looking for a strong, satisfying shot of chugging four-square punk, cue up "Yeah Yeah Yeah," "No Heart," "Petrol," or "Wrecked on You" and you'll be thrown

My copy has matrix no. S-EPC-82097 A-1, S-EPC-82097 B-1. On the label the A4 track is listed correctly as Keep it Clean - other mistakes are still there. There is also a pen writing on the inner sleeve that says "Pure Mania 18-8-77" that might indicate the date of purchase by the first owner.

The mix on the UK version is vastly different that the US one. The UK one tends to be a bit more flat pub-rocky where as the US one is much more towards hi-energy punk. It would be nice to see a side-by-side combined CD rerelease one day.

The US CD version with no bonus tracks from 1990-ish was the only version available on CD until 2004. The Captain Oi release was the very 1st version on CD to contain the proper UK mix.

The Epic ‎EPC 82097 UK version sounds totally different than the JC 35038 Columbia US version. The UK one is more subdued and pub rock-y whereas the US version is much more amped-up and spiky.
