Pavane pour une infante défunte (Pavane for a Deceased Infanta) is a piece for solo piano by French composer Maurice Ravel. The piece was composed in 1899 while Ravel was studying composition at the Conservatoire de Paris under Gabriel Fauré. Ravel also published an orchestrated version of the Pavane in 1910, including scores for two flutes, an oboe, two clarinets (in B♭), two bassoons, two horns, harp, and strings. A typical performance of the piece lasts between six and seven minutes.

He is currently music director of the San Francisco Symphony, and artistic director of the New World Symphony, an American orchestral academy based in Miami Beach, Florida. Tilson Thomas was born in Los Angeles, California, to Ted and Roberta Thomas, a Broadway stage manager and a middle school history teacher respectively
