The Jean-Luc Ponty Experience with the George Duke Trio is a jazz album released in 1969 by Jean-Luc Ponty on World Pacific Jazz in the US, and is considered to be one of the earliest jazz fusion albums. This was the third album of note for pianist George Duke. The Jean-Luc Ponty Experience with the George Duke Trio album was recorded live in Hollywood, California in mid-September, 1969.

One of several recordings he made with keyboardist George Duke in 1969 (they would later work together under Frank Zappa for a brief stretch in the early '70s), this set opens with Duke's very catchy "Foosh," a choppy mix of modal and funk. Wolfgang Dauner's meandering "Pamukkale" is a bit of a disappointment.

Nick: The Jean-Luc Ponty Experience with The George Duke Trio is an album that is considered to be one of the earliest jazz fusion albums. It was recorded live and helped start the blend between rock and jazz, forming something that couldn’t be heard earlier. What are your notes on this record and this idea? JLP: In 1968-1969 I had a recording contract with World Pacific in Los Angeles and was playing around California with George Duke.

Ponty's solos are good, but keyboardist George Duke's solos are incredible. Duke really connects with Berk and creates dense layers of rhythmic variation and sheets of sound that parallel some of the best work by Tony Williams and Herbie Hancock. It helps that Duke is playing an almost distorted electric piano instead of a more subtle acoustic piano
