Number two in DJ Deep's great old school house/Detroit techno compilation series. Again, it's crate digging at its best, this time coming with rare classics from Urban Culture (aka Carl Craig), Instinct, Jovonn, Rodney Baker & The Rocking House Chicago Mob, Mike Dunn, Risque 3. Played by. Satore (Hizou Deep Rooted Music).

City To City Part 02 (A Retrospective Journey Through Detroit, Chicago And New-York Underground House Sounds) (Comp). The underground boss of french deep house sound! He is a dope figure in the house music scene! He is one of the best in France! Nuff said!

Under the name Deep Space Soundworks, Atkins and May began to DJ on Detroit's party circuit. These early Detroit techno artists employed science fiction imagery to articulate their visions of a transformed society. A notable exception to this trend was a single by Derrick May under his pseudonym Rhythim Is Rhythim, called "Strings of Life" (1987). This vibrant dancefloor anthem was filled with rich synthetic string arrangements and took the underground music scene by storm in May 1987. The three artists all contribute to the discourse of Afrofuturism through their re-purposing of technology to create a new form of music that appealed to a marginalized underground population. Especially within the context of Detroit, where the rise of robotics led to a massive loss of jobs around the time these three were growing up, technology is very relevant.

Radio City Music Hall, which opened in 1932, is a New York City icon home to the famous Rockettes. Designed by architect Edward Durrell Stone and interior designer Donald Deskey, Radio City is known for its Art Deco decor, luxurious drapes, gold leaf and incredible murals. While millions have visited the music hall since it opened, many do not realize there is a secret apartment, built for Samuel Roxy Rothafel, an entrepreneur who owned some of the first successful theaters in Times Square

City To City - Part 2. DJ Deep. Ace & The Sandman.

His journey through Chicago, Detroit and New York's secret house gems leads us to a couple of bonafied diamonds here, most notably "Utilize The Beat" by Gentle Ice, a pseudonym for none other than Chicago house God Adonis. An underground exploration of US music this may be, but Deep does hop on a Virgin Atlantic flight back to Europe on a couple of occasions, plucking Claro Intelecto's deep-as-you-like "Signals" and Marcel Dettmann's "Apron" as well as "The Box" from Berlin-based Redshape, just to keep us on our toes

DJ and producer Ron Trent has been making huge waves in the world of house music since he released his track Altered States while he was still at high school. Since then, he’s founded Urban Eclectic Soundtracks and worked extensively with other DJs, including Anthony Nicholson. Ahead of his seven hour set in London this Saturday (details at the bottom of the page), the Chicago born and bred DJ took some time out to write a guide for us to the ten most thrillingly alive, liberally diverse deep house records that he knows. Very underground and very true to the essence of Chicago street sound in the 80s. I remember hearing this record on tape a year or two before it found its way onto wax for the public. Drum machines and keyboards were becoming a big part of the desires of the urban underground community. Love Of My Own is of that league.

Many great tracks, but worth buying for the Ace & The Sandman track alone. Check it out.
