Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam (機動戦士Ζ(ゼータ)ガンダム Kidō Senshi Zēta Gandamu?) is a 1985 anime television series. It is a direct sequel to the original Mobile Suit Gundam. 0087, seven years after the end of the One Year War. After the events of Operation Stardust, the Earth Federation establishes an elite counter-insurgency division called the Titans to hunt down the remaining pockets of Zeon remnants.

A direct follow up to Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, it is directed and written by Yoshiyuki Tomino, and he assembled a new team consisting of character designer Hiroyuki Kitazume, who had been one of Zeta Gundam's animation directors, and mechanical designers Makoto Kobayashi, Yutaka Izubuchi and Mika Akitaka.

Saegusa Shigeaki (family name Saegusa) (born 1941) is a Japanese opera composer. Saegusa is best known for his opera version Chushingura of the well-known kabuki epic of the Fort-seven Ronin with a libretto by the novelist Shimada Masahiko. Written over a period of 10 years, the opera was most recently performed at the New National Theatre, Tokyo in 2002. He is also known for his Scores on Zeta Gundam, Char's Counterattack, and recently the New Zeta Gundam Movies.

The show was created and directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino, with character designs by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, while the series' mechanical designs is split among Kunio Okawara, Mamoru Nagano, and Kazumi Fujita.
