Overkill is the second studio album by the band Motörhead, released 24 March 1979. Peaking at on the UK charts, it was the band's first album with Bronze Records. Kerrang! magazine listed the album at among the "100 Greatest Heavy Metal Albums of All Time". Bronze Records signed Motörhead in 1978 and booked them time in London's Wessex Studios to record a single consisting of Richard Berry's "Louie Louie" and a new song by the band called "Tear Ya Down".

Up until the preceding, also excellent Years of Decay album, Overkill had suffered from a somewhat narrow, one-dimensional style and often comical lyrics fit for naught but numbskull moshing, directly at odds and therefore easily overshadowed by the exceedingly cerebral East Coast thrash of Anthrax and Nuclear Assault.

Horrorscope (Overkill album). This is the last Overkill album to feature guitarist Bobby Gustafson, Overkill spent nearly a year touring in support of The Years of Decay.
