Nomad Songs is the 23rd studio album by the German world musician Stephan Micus. The album was released in June 2015 through ECM Records. Like all of his albums, it was produced by Micus himself, unlike most of the other records on the ECM label, which are produced by label boss Manfred Eicher. Stephan Micus is always seeking to find new traditional instruments. He learned their history and how to play. Then he composes new music and plays all of these traditional instruments on albums.

t, composer, and musical anthropologist Stephan Micus has always created according to very simple principles; simple, not easy. On all of his recordings he has relentlessly sought to expand his musical universe by digging deeply into the sounds, traditions, and instruments of other cultures, often traveling great distances to study with masters of certain kinds of instruments. He never tries to replicate them but instead has sought to create new music from his discoveries.

Panagia is Stephan Micus’ 20th album for ECM, and it coincides with his 60th birthday in January 2013. The Greek word Panagia is one of the names of the Virgin Mary, Mother of Christ. Stephan Micus’ album takes six Byzantine Greek prayers and sets them in his own inimitable way with instruments he has collected in years of travels round the world. The album alternates sung poems with instrumental tracks and thus has a clearly symmetrical, even ritualistic, structure, says Micus. Track List 01. I Praise You, Unfading Rose 6:41 02.

First of all, I have to confess, it is actually impossible to discuss world music without the name of great Stephan Micus. he is the greatest musician in my mind who recorded numerous albums with sufficient and the fabulous sense of world music. He spends all his life traveling all around the world in order to learn their music and recognizing the variety of cultures. Micus has the specific definition of music in his works and he collaborated different instruments around the world, recorded and arranged by himself well-done, also, gathering different sort of traditional music from the east of china to middle-east with strong concept and meaningful philosophy behind the each album is a fascinating part of Micus's music I believe. let's talk about "Panagia", in Medieval and Modern Greek, also transliterated Panayia or Panaghia, is one of the titles of Mary, the mother of Jesus, used especially in Orthodox Christianity. This album released in 2013 by an amazing and well-known record label ECM. in this project Micus played instruments such as Bavarian Zither, Tibetan Chimes, Temple Bells, Chitrali Sitar, Delruba, Guitar, Nay and Sattar. these instruments vary mostly in India, Iran and Tibet. in order to Micus's interviews, most of the composition is written by himself as well. he significantly made the beautiful sight to a mesmerizing world. the sound of choirs and voices are clearly based on the main concept of album and it is wonderfully composed and arranged by himself as well, actually, when it comes to the personnel of the Micus's albums, we interestingly found just the name of Stephan Micus on the CD and it shows that he did everything on his projects just like all of his albums, so, this is the real significance of Stephan Micus. This album lets you think deeply about the oriental and ancient cultures, likewise, you need to think more about the ancestors of music.
