Mother Love Bone (also known as Stardog Champion) is a compilation album by the American rock band Mother Love Bone. It was released on September 22, 1992, through Stardog/Mercury Records. The album contains material from the EP Shine (1989) and the album Apple (1990). It was released by PolyGram subsidiary Stardog/Mercury Records after the band dissolved due to the death of vocalist Andrew Wood. The album charted at number 77 on the Billboard 200 album chart in 1992.

Mother Love Bone was an American rock band that formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1987. The band was active from 1987 to 1990. Frontman Andrew Wood's personality and lyrics helped to catapult the group to the top of the burgeoning late 1980s/early 1990s Seattle music scene. Wood died only days before the scheduled release of the band's debut album, Apple, thus ending the group's hopes of success. The album was finally released a few months later.

It wasn't death but life that brought Mother Love Bone to the attention of the world in the end. Andrew Wood's premature passing was a personal tragedy to all who knew him and to the band's hometown fanbase, but the group had barely made a mark beyond the Shine EP, and Apple was less a debut album than a memorial

Mother Love Bone's full-length debut, Apple, arrived in stores on July 19, 1990, under a cloud of tragedy. Only four months earlier, frontman Andy Wood died from a heroin overdose. And so although the album definitely had its obvious influences - the acoustic guitar-driven "Stargazer" contains perhaps Wood's best Robert Plant impression, the spaced-out grooves of "Stardog Champion" bring to mind Jane's Addiction and Wood's wild-eyed vocal delivery and attitude on "Holy Roller" conjure Axl Rose - the record presaged the no-frills rock approach that would soon dominate. I had forgotten how many good songs they had done before morphing into Pearl Jam after the singers death. They had a pretty unique sound. The lead singers death was also the inspiration for a tribute CD called "Temple of the Dog" with Chris Cornell of Soundgarden and Pearl Jam.
