Reger was a great musician and i cannot understand why he is still an unfairly neglected composer. He was a kind of Bach of 20th century. Those cello suites can be considered among the best solo cello works from that century. They are wonderful and compelling pieces with the best Bachian inspiration. This is my first approach to Guido Schieffen's art and playing and i like it a lot. Perhaps colder than a, say, Rostropovich, but he plays very cleanly and with high objective precision. This is an enjoyable purchase to begin a Reger collection and for everyone interested in this music.
