The Glass Passenger is the second studio album by American rock band Jack's Mannequin, released through Sire Records on September 30, 2008 in the United States. It is the band's first studio album on Sire Records after Everything in Transit (2005) was released through Maverick Records. Sire released two of the album's new songs on the extended play (EP) The Ghost Overground, on August 5, 2008, including "The Resolution", the album's first single.

When an artist talks about the music on a forthcoming album before it’s finished, all bets are off as to whether the final product will bear any resemblance to preliminary chatter. The Glass Passenger is the result of McMahon’s music history crash course-and its lush instrumentation and fleshed-out arrangements realize his lofty goals. Much more complex and sophisticated than Jack’s Mannequin’s 2005 debut Everything In Transit-and even poppier, believe it or not-the 14-song collection demonstrates the synergy between McMahon and his bandmates. His piano often takes second fiddle to other instruments, whether it’s glammy guitars and sly strings ( Bloodshot ) or power-pop nods (the Ben Folds-esque Drop Out – The So Unknown ).

After dissolving Something Corporate, McMahon formed a more "mature" side project that went by the name of Jack's Mannequin, and though the group's 2005 debut Everything in Transit should have been "just another album", it was McMahon's tragic circumstances that turned it into something more. Three months prior the disc's release, McMahon was diagnosed with leukemia. Although McMahon spent a good amount of time emphasizing the power of music on Everything in Transit, The Glass Passenger is practically an ode to the art of songwriting.
