Live In San Juan '89 ‎(CD, RM, Unofficial).

KIX and Jean Pierre were quickly becoming setlist fixtures, with Miles in his best form on My Man's Gone Now, which he recorded in 1958 for the album Porgy and Bess. Stern is sailing hard and fast with solid solos, while Cinelu provides special flavor through his incredible creativity. The same lineup is featured on the 1982 Grammy Award-winning double live album We Want Miles - which features four of the tracks on here - and is a far superior chronicle of the early concerts for the vast majority of collectors.

Live-Evil is an album of both live and studio recordings by American jazz musician Miles Davis. They were performed as lengthy, dense jams in the jazz-rock style, while the studio recordings were renditions of Hermeto Pascoal compositions. The album was originally released on November 17, 1971.

This remarkable set was broadcast on American Public Radio at an intimate club in California, and features just two tracks: a tribute to Jaco Pastorius from his recently released Amandla album, and the title track to 1986’s Tutu. It’s presented here together with background notes and images.

CBS Photo Archive/Getty Images. Pulling back the reins on bop’s freneticism, Davis loosens the music with lyricism and spaciousness. 2. WALKIN’ (Prestige) Davis turns around and ushers in the hard-bop era with bruising workouts that celebrate the music’s blues roots. 8. LIVE AT PLUGGED NICKEL (Columbia) Davis was once again ready for a change, and a new young blood band (Wayne Shorter, Tony Williams, Ron Carter and Herbie Hancock) helped him jettison any bop vestiges and envision the future. 9. MILES SMILES (Columbia) The mid-Sixties quintet balanced coiled intensity with compositional smarts. For today’s young players, this is Davis’ most influential period.
