The album was produced by Brian Virtue. It was announced early 2013 that the band signed deal with Red Entertainment and that a new album is in the works. They put their final EP from their Hate/Hope Trilogy on hold, so they can work on a new album. They financed the entire project via pledgemusic

Los Angeles is the debut studio album by American rock band X, released on April 26, 1980 by Slash Records. Produced by ex-Doors keyboard player Ray Manzarek, it includes a cover of the 1967 Doors song "Soul Kitchen". It placed at No. 16 for the year in The Village Voice Pazz & Jop Critics Poll. In 2003, the album was ranked No. 286 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

Conceived while touring in support of the band's previous album, With Teeth (2005), the album was recorded throughout late-2006, and was produced by frontman Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. It was the band's last album for Interscope, following Reznor's departure the same year over a dispute of overseas pricing.
