Georges Charles Brassens (French pronunciation: ; 22 October 1921 – 29 October 1981) was a French singer-songwriter and poet. He wrote and sang, with his guitar, more than a hundred of his poems, as well as texts from many others such as Victor Hugo, Paul Verlaine, or Louis Aragon. In 1967, he received the Grand Prix de Poésie of the Académie française.

One of the most celebrated French singers and songwriters of his generation, Georges Brassens created an impressive body of work during his recording career, which spanned five decades. Master Serie: Best of Georges Brassens is a two-disc set that features 32 of his best, and best-loved, songs, interpreted in his trademark style with strong, subtle vocals and simple but effective acoustic accompaniment.
