Yoshioka approaches the covers and originals with a sense of reverence and technical understanding that many younger American singers do not display. Besides, the lady can sing. That comes clear when the listener hears her live duet of Ain’t No Mountain High Enough with frequent collaborator Brian Owens, as well as her treatment of the gospel classic His Eye Is On the Sparrow. Five of the 11 tracks on The Light are covers, and it’s easy to understand why any young singer would sing these classics. Now that she's proven her soul chops with the multiple remakes on The Light, I'm looking forward to an entire album of new material by Nao Yoshioka. This is an impressive debut by an impressive singer; hopefully, she will show her full vision as an artist on projects yet to come.

Nao Yoshioka, my favourite Japanese Neo Soul, R&B Artist will be releasing a new album on September 21st 2016 title The truth. Definitely look out for that one. This will actually be her third album. Her first album was a nice mixture of original and cover songs, and the second album showed how much she had grown spiritually as a singer. This third album has come about from her experiences during her world tours. There is even a James Poyser remix to one of the songs. James Poyser is a member of the Roots and have produced in the Neo Soul genre for various artists such as, Erykah Badu,.

Nao Yoshioka is Japan’s new soul music sensation who has received praise from Gordon Chambers the legendary award-winning singer-songwriter, and record producer. Influenced during a stay in the US by Sam Cooke’s, A Change is Gonna Come , Ms. Yoshioka realized that she could make a change in her life through her music. Her single, Make the Change from her debut album, The Light has caused Nao Yoshioka to change countries, as she has traveled from Japan to the Netherlands and United States to record and perform her music. Nao Yoshioka doesn’t simply rely on the songwriting giants of yesteryear on this project. She wrote Make The Change and several songs on her second album to be released later in the United States. Sweet Soul Records assembled global talent to create The Light.
