The Big Black is the third full-length album by Orange Goblin released in 2000 on Rise Above Records. The LP version, along with the US domestic CD, was released by The Music Cartel. Martyn Millard - bass. Chris Turner - drums. Produced & Engineered by Billy Anderson.

The Black Album (Jay-Z album). The Black Album is the eighth studio album by American rapper Jay-Z, released on November 14, 2003, by Roc-A-Fella Records. It was advertised as his final album before retiring, which is also a recurring theme throughout the songs, although Jay-Z resumed his recording career in 2006.

The Black Album is a swaggering beast of a record; a lumbering swampdog paddling through backwater mists with an eye on snagging the elegant flamingo. And while it’s easy to associate canonical albums such as this with a kind of idle complacency - a standing slack jawed in Tesco flicking through UNCUT before doing the shopping kinda vibe - The Black Album isn’t actually that record at all. Rather, it represents Metallica at their loosest, grooviest and most ludicrously powerful - a slab of life-affirming class, laden with glee and driven by sheer gnash. Until The Black Album was recorded, Metallica had often sounded piped out of a long thin tube. To give some context: by 1987’. nd Justice For All the situation was absurd.

Released November 14, 2003. The Black Album Tracklist. Hov originally had the idea for The Black Album in 1998, and he wanted close friend DJ Premier to produce all of the tracks. It never eventuated, but he revisited the concept for his 2003 retirement album and wanted to enlist a different producer for each track. In the end Hov ended up with 10 different producers across the 14 tracks. Dr. Dre and DJ Premier were originally supposed to be on that list, but didn’t end up making the cut. A young up-and-comer named Kanye West produced two tracks for the album- Lucifer and Encore

If The Black Album is truly Jay-Z's last statement before retirement, he at least goes out near the top of his game. While it probably won't be remembered as his best album, The Black Album is his most personal to date and features some of his most compelling writing. Jay-Z is defiant and defensive here-he's trying to make sure his legacy is properly acknowledged, although he can get a bit heavy-handed at times
