Let I shy cry Under the light Let I cry sight A child at night. I can have courage To receive your love I can step steps Follow my blind. Inside myself The secret grows My own shelter Agony goes. The crying light, crying light. I was born to adore you As a baby in the blind, ooh I was born to represent you To carry your head into the sun To carve you face into the back of the sun. The crying light, crying light Crying light, crying light. The Crying Light" Track Info.

The cover of The Crying Light, the third album by Antony and the Johnsons, is strikingly similar to that of its predecessor, 2005's highly-lauded I Am a Bird Now. The latter presented a stark black-and-white shot of transvestite performer Candy Darling lying on her hospital deathbed; this time, we get an even starker image of Japanese Butoh dancer Kazuo Ohno, a hero of bandleader Antony Hegarty since he first spotted her on a poster while studying in France as a teenager

Although Antony and the Johnsons’ breakthrough (and Mercury Prize-winning) sophomore album, I Am a Bird Now, was mostly about unbearable loneliness and the nature of self-identity (sexual and otherwise), the band’s third album, the sublime The Crying Light, is about bigger-picture issues. Namely, how life intertwines with death, and our place on this planet. So instead of songs about turning into birds, we get songs about how Antony will miss the snow if this Earth ever ends.

Sadly, my copy is maybe one of the worst pressings in my whole collection. Did anyone else notice this with the SC194 LP?

The Crying Light' is a soul-stirring new work with its daring compositions and captivating vocal performances. Antony and the Johnsons have created a subtle and timely work that brings a magical and yet changing world to the forefront of our consciousness. released January 20, 2009. Antony and the Johnsons' breakthrough 2nd album I Am a Bird Now won the UK’s prestigious Mercury Prize in 2005, introducing many to the pioneering singer unafraid to explore themes traversing darkness and light, life and death, male and female. Antony’s inimitable voice sparked interest in artists ranging from Bjork to Hercules and Love Affair, resulting in a series of acclaimed collaborations.

Antony's mournful wails were electrifying first time around. But enough's enough, says Alexis Petridis. The Crying Light really works when it steps out of its predecessor's shadow, in every sense of the phrase. Epilepsy Is Dancing doesn't sound like a barrel of laughs on paper, and indeed, it's not exactly a barrel of laughs on record, but at least there is a certain levity about its folky tune, a chink of light that undercuts its pained climax.

Antony and the Johnsons' third album, The Crying Light, was released on 19 January 2009 and went to on the European Billboard charts. Anohni has described the theme of the album as being "about landscape and the future". Nature, death, love and the role of the artist were explored across ten tracks, which included the single "Epilepsy Is Dancing. The album was mixed by Bryce Goggin and included arrangements by Nico Muhly
