Between the Buttons is the fifth British and seventh American studio album by The Rolling Stones, released on 20 January 1967 in the UK and 11 February in the US as the follow-up to Aftermath. It was the beginning of the Stones' brief foray into psychedelia. It is among the band's most musically adventurous works; by the time principal recording occurred on the album, founder Brian Jones had all but abandoned his original role as guitarist, instead playing a wide variety of other instruments.

The Rolling Stones finally delivered a set of all-original material with this LP, which also did much to define the group as the bad boys of rock & roll with their sneering attitude toward the world in general and the female sex in particular.

Exclusively for Prime members. Sample this album Artist (Sample). It was a landmark album for the band as it was the first Rolling Stones album to consist of all original Jagger/Richards material. The days of doing cover versions of other artist's songs were slowing down as the band was beginning to develop their own style and sound. With original hits over the previous 15 months, such as "Heart Of Stone," "The Last Time," "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction," and "Get Off Of My Cloud," Mick Jagger and Keith Richards were developing into a very strong songwriting team.

Aftermath is a studio album by English rock band the Rolling Stones. It was released in the United Kingdom on 15 April 1966 by Decca Records and in the United States on 20 June by London Records. The Rolling Stones began recording Aftermath immediately after their October–December 1965 US tour – their fourth and largest tour of the United States up to that point. According to Bill Wyman in his book Rolling with the Stones, the album was originally conceived as the soundtrack for a planned film, Back, Behind and in Front.

Aftermath was The Rolling Stones’ fourth album in the UK, where it reached N. after being released by Decca Records on 15 April 1966. In the US, however, it was released two months later, on 20 July, by London Records. The US Aftermath also has one very significant track difference: it opens with ‘Paint It, Black’, a song that topped the Billboard Hot 100 on 11 June 1966 and stayed there for two weeks, and which provided the perfect springboard to launch the album into the US charts. The cohesion and overall sound and feel of Aftermath was improved by the inclusion of the band’s third American N. in less than a year.
