Malmö Symphony Orchestra Orchestra, Andrey Boreyko Conductor, Jörgen Svensson Orchestra Leader. Bloch: Symphony in E-Flat Major, Macbeth, 3 Jewish Poems and In Memoriam. Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Ernest Bloch: Deux Psaumes; Suite hébraïque; Baal-Shem; Trois poèmes juifs. Deutsches Symphony Orchestra, Berlin.
Bloch: Violin Concerto; Poems Of The Sea; Suite symphonique. The most striking features of this release are the physical sound and exceptional level of performance Dalia Sternberg gets out of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The sound is bright and sharp without being tinny. Praise for this goes to Maestro Sternberg. She seems to have a feel for this music (the Three Jewish Poems will have you melt in your chair), and she gets just the right folk-music touches without allowing the music to become maudlin. The highlight here is the stately Symphony in E-flat. It is much less based on Jewish themes, but still tonal.
Alban Berg composed his Three Pieces for Orchestra (German – Drei Orchesterstücke), Op. 6, between 1913 and 1915. They are dedicated "to my teacher and friend Arnold Schoenberg in immeasurable gratitude and love". The three pieces are: Präludium (Prelude). An instrumentally colourful, impressionistic prelude.

Ernest Bloch (1880–1959) was a Swiss composer.
