But Thilo's playing also acknowledges the influences of Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis, Ben Webster, and Johnny Hodges. His Hodges-like rendition of "Old Folks" is one of Strike Up the Band's highlights. Thilo's work on this album is masterful and inventive throughout
The Outsiders (American band). The Outsiders were an American rock and roll band from Cleveland, Ohio, that was founded and led by guitarist Tom King. The band is best known for its Top 5 hit "Time Won't Let Me" in early 1966, which peaked at No. 5 in the US in April, and the band also had three other Hot 100 top 40 hit singles in 1966, but none on the Hot 100 beyond then, and released a total of four albums in the mid-1960s.
He joined the band at the Queen's Hall, London and the Queen's Dance Orchestra started recording for HMV on 28 May 1921. Jack was the only member of the band who could read music and his name soon appeared on the label as director of the Orchestra. His 1922 band had Bernard Tipping, trombone; Basil Wiltshire drums; Bert Heath Trumpert; unknown tenor sax; Jack Raine, trumpet Chappie d'Amato, sax; Dick de Pauw, violin and Bert Bassett on banjo. In 1932, Jack Hylton was awarded the French Legion of Honour for his services to music. The Band recorded in Paris and in Berlin on HMV records. The American band recorded four sides. The British Band continued under the direction of Sonny Farrar until Hylton's return in 1936. In 1939, Coleman Hawkins toured with the Orchestra and recorded DARKTOWN STRUTTERS BALL and MY MELANCHOLY BABY with them (HMV BD 5550).

The early line-up, included bass player Stеle Naas, Eldar Melkvik on keyboards and Frode Flatland on drums. In the early years, CTTB was a Deep Purple tribute band and released two CD& with Deep Purple songs; A Tribute To Deep Purple in 1999 and Live in 2006.
