Anderson Meade Lewis (September 4, 1905 – June 7, 1964), known as Meade Lux Lewis, was an American pianist and composer, noted for his playing in the boogie-woogie style. His best-known work, "Honky Tonk Train Blues, has been recorded by many artists. Lewis was born in Chicago, though some sources state Louisville, Kentucky, on September 4, 1905 (September 3 and 13 have also been cited as his date of birth in various sources). In his youth he was influenced by the pianist Jimmy Yancey

Pete Johnson and Albert Ammons plus drum accompaniment produced "8 to the Bar" in mid-1941 for RCA Victor, who issued it first as an album of four 78s, and than as both a set of four 45s and a 10" LP. Albert Ammons recorded eight tracks with varied accompaniments, over three sessions between 1946 and 1949, and they were issued in 1950 on a 10" Mercury LP. Meade Lux Lewis is represented by two 10" Verve LPs, "Yancey's Last Ride", recorded in June 1954 with Louie Bellson on drums, and "Cat House Piano" with Red Callender on bass and Jo Jones on . .
