Paul Oakenfold - Bunkka Paul Oakenfold's Bunkka is his long awaited first "artist" album and is named after the recording studio it was recorded at. After the single release of the brilliantly enchanting southern sun (respect to dj tiesto rmx) I was expecting something more dance music oriented. As Oakenfold intended however, this crosses over and blurs musical genres in and is supposedly his representation of his entire music career.

Bunkka is the title of an album by electronica artist and DJ Paul Oakenfold. The first track of the album, "Ready, Steady, Go", appears in the film The Bourne Identity, when Jason Bourne is attempting to elude the French police as they are chasing him in their vehicles. It also appears in Collateral, in the club Fever scene though this is a reproduced version with Korean lyrics and vocals.

Talk about Oakenfold - Bunkka

fightnight
It's not trance, but it's very well crafted. Oakenfold at least demonstrated some musical talent on this album.

It is not Paul Oakenfold as you know him with sunshine and beach live mixes. It is him as producer of an, I think, aurally shiny breakbeat style decorated with well-choosen vocalists. Even if the music is very catchy, it's well done produced. Highlights on this album are: The really eternal and deep going song 'Zoo York' - as next 'Get em up', which cuts its own, new path being more synth-hop than hip-hop - and last but not least 'The Harder they come' sung by the meantime very popular Nelly Furtado. I recommend this release on which you can see the potential of Paul Oakenfold at its best!

I have read a lot of non complimentary reviews about this and the discogs score reflects this too. Howeverm I rather like this album, in my mind its a collection of 'Balearic Beats' which seems appropriare given the history of its producer. Its a mish mash of polished productions and definitely something to listen to in the sunshine.
